About this game

Light the safe runes and flag the mines in Grid Recon, a no-guess minesweeper puzzle you can play free in your browser — no download. You play LUMEN, a lantern-keeper on a haunted grid where every revealed number tells you exactly how many of that cell's eight neighbours hide a mine. From those clues you deduce which covered runes are safe and flag the ones that aren't. The promise that sets this apart: every board is generated to be fully solvable by pure logic from a guaranteed-safe opening, so a detonation is genuinely always a misread, never bad luck. Clearing a board doesn't end the game — it sends you one Depth deeper into a larger, denser, still perfectly fair grid, endlessly. You aren't punished by a single slip either: you start with three lives, and revealing a mine costs one life while leaving the rest of the board intact so you can keep deducing. Only losing your last life ends the run. Each cleared board banks ember toward Lumen's Reliquary, where permanent charms grant extra lives, Diviner hint charges that reveal a proven-safe rune, pre-placed flags, an Echo Charm that rewinds a fatal misclick, and a score multiplier. Pure logic, zero luck, deeply satisfying on phone or desktop.

How to play

Desktop: left-click a covered rune to reveal it, right-click to flag or unflag a suspected mine. Press F to toggle flag mode, H to spend a Diviner hint, U to undo, R to restart the board, and Space or Enter to start. Mobile: tap to reveal, long-press about a third of a second to flag, or switch on the flag-mode button so every tap flags; side buttons cover hint, undo, and restart. Tips: (1) Never guess — the opening cell always floods a safe region and every board is provably logical, so apply single-point deduction (when a number's flagged mines already equal it, all its other covered neighbours are safe) rather than gambling. (2) Flag aggressively; the mines-left counter and your flags are what make satisfied numbers visible so you can safely bulk-reveal. (3) Save the Diviner hint for genuinely stuck frontiers, and bank early ember into the Warding Charm and Echo Charm for insurance, since deeper boards pack more mines.
