About this game
Cipher Wheel is a free, offline-friendly word game built around a glowing lantern letter-wheel. Each loop hands you a small shared set of letters arranged in a ring, and you spell as many words as you can from them — there's no hidden answer key to uncover. Instead, any valid word you can form from the letters counts, checked against a dictionary bundled right into the page, so it plays instantly with no connection needed. Drag a continuous path through the letters to spell a word, or just type it; the moment you land on a real word it locks onto the board and scores. Longer words are worth more, and chaining discoveries quickly builds a combo multiplier before it cools off. The game opens with a hand-crafted ladder of racks that is strictly no-fail — take all the time you want to learn the ropes — before spilling into endless, ever-harder generated loops. In endless mode a Lantern meter becomes your clock: each word you find tops it up, and it slowly burns down, so the pressure is simply to keep discovering. Every loop is guaranteed solvable, never a dead rack. Lumens you earn feed Glim's Library, where permanent upgrades — extra hints, more Lantern oil, bigger combos and more — carry into future runs. The interface is bilingual English/中文 (the words themselves are English), and your best score saves locally.
How to play
Desktop: drag a continuous path through the wheel's letters with the mouse to spell a word, then release to submit — or simply type the letters and press Enter. Backspace undoes one typed letter, and while dragging you can double back to the previous letter to unpick a step. Press Space to shuffle the wheel's layout and Tab to spend a hint that lights up a first letter. Mobile: trace a path through the letters with one finger and lift to submit; on-screen Shuffle and Hint buttons are provided. Reach each loop's target number of words to advance to the next, harder loop. Tips: (1) Start from the longest word you can see — score scales with word length, and finding a big word first often reveals shorter words hiding inside it. (2) Find words in quick succession to keep your combo multiplier alive; it resets if you pause too long, so a burst of easy short words can be worth more than one slow long one. (3) In the endless loops watch the Lantern meter — every valid word refills it, so when it runs low, bank a few quick, sure words to buy time rather than hunting for a hard one.
